This Saturday, September 18th, is the annual Worldwide Spin in Public Day.
From the Worldwide Spin in Public Day Official Facebook Page:
“Worldwide Spin in Public Day was started by a bunch of like-minded spinners to celebrate an art that they all love - the art of spinning fibers into yarn. This site's main purpose is to help organize spinning in public events on the third weekend of September every year. This educates the public about our love of spinning, opens minds and hearts to what we love and allows us to meet new people, get together, and just have a really fun day!
2009 was the first year for Worldwide Spin in Public (WWSIP) Day and we hope to continue to promote many more. As time goes on, this site will have more features for you to use.
Enjoy Worldwide Spin in Public Day and feel free to send us your suggestions at spininpublicday@gmail.com.”
So, grab your wheel (or spindle) this Saturday and spin some yarn in public!
If you’re planning to participate this year, leave me a comment and let me know where you’ll be spinning and what fiber/wheel/spindle you’ll be using!
You can find me at Hook A Frog Fiber & Fun in Madison, Alabama where I’ll be selling local raw fleeces, hand dyed fibers + undyed fibers. -Emily Wallace
